Summary of some learning objectives in all Criminal Justice courses:

  • Students will study the criminal justice agencies and learn the processes involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Students will analyze the various careers and roles they fulfill within the criminal justice system.
  • Students will discuss the problems in our existing criminal justice system and identify ways to fix the system.
  • Students will understand how the United States Constitution affects local, state, and federal laws.
  • Students will understand the different roles required by local, state, and federal law enforcement officers.
  • Students will learn and understand the creation of laws and how enforcement of the statutes officially goes into effect.
  • Students will explore career pathways working in courts, law enforcement, crime scene, corrections, and many more careers in the field of criminal justice.

  • Routine and Tactical Handcuffing Techniques
  • Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT)
  • Self-defense tactics, Searches & Seizures
  • Traffic violations & reports
  • Inmate cell extractions
  • Suspect searches vs. inmate shakedowns
  • Stop & Frisks/patdowns 
  • Latent Fingerprinting & use of the Patrol Fingerprint kits
  • DNA fingerprinting
  • Bloody stain testing
  • Physical Fitness testing
  • 10-codes versus using plain language over radios dispatch/EMT/Fire Dept/Police Dept/Correctional Officers
  • Using verbal commands and learning communication skills
  • Use of Force policies and procedures
  • Criminal Law, Constitutional Law/Case Laws, State Law, Federal Law, and Local/Municipal Law

SEACBEC Criminal Justice Mission Statement:

The mission of the Criminal Justice classes at Southeast Arkansas Community Based Education Center (SEACBEC) is to promote high academic achievement, develop marketable career skills, encourage continued education, and enhance the quality of life in our community through providing early educational resources to prepare our secondary students careers or college courses in the field of criminal justice.

 

Criminal Justice classes provide engaging classroom lectures with many stimulating, hands-on activities. Students apply textbook principles to real-world situations and scenarios frequently faced by criminal justice professionals.

 

SEACBEC’s goal in providing Criminal Justice classes to secondary students is to instill in future criminal justice professionals the desire to achieve personal and professional excellence by attaining knowledge and skills while also learning the importance of adherence to moral, ethical, and professional principles.
